Wake Up and Smell the Coffee!

So I coasted in to Norwood Central this morning to find the usual festive atmosphere that heralds another colossal screw-up by the MBCR. The reader board said that due to mechanical failure trains were running 35 minutes late. A few wide-eyed Pollyannas seemed to think that must mean the 706 (which is scheduled for Central at 7:05) would be along at 7:40. Ha! Fat chance!! To you, wide-eyed Pollyannas, I say this: wake up and smell the coffee!!! The reader board lies!!!!

Unfortunately, the coffee is on the outbound side of the tracks at the Citgo/Dunkin. If you try for it, and lord knows I wanted a cup of coffee on that frigid train platform, you risk being cut off by an arriving in-bound train, extending your wait by god knows how long.

That's because the reader board has lousy info. In the absence of accurate information it is impossible to make a decision based on . . . Well, based on anything. (By the way--I went for the coffee and made it back for the train, which arrived at 7:52, not, as the MBCR suggested, 35 minutes late, but sort of outside of your mortal time.)

The rules are simple: just add 10-15 minutes to what the reader board says. When it says "5-10 minutes late", it will actually be 15-25 minutes late.

Exactly how late will depend on whether or not you made your god's animal sacrifice that morning and/or whether or not you have an important meeting scheduled for first thing in the morning*.

*you ride the commuter rail and scheduled a meeting for first thing in the morning?!? YOu are MAD!!!!

At least you have a Dunkin' Donuts at your station. My station (Grafton) has nothing - and there isn't anything in driving distance.
